SPEEDY BEE KIT (Item #222126)
This is Andy's sporty mid-wing Bee. It's reviewed in the June 98 RCM. It is a 4-channel mid-wing design that resembles a golden age racer. The wingspan is 40" with a 14" chord like the Lazy Bee. The Speedy Bee wing is flat across the top, but gets some dihedral by bottom taper. The ailerons are very large (often referred to as "barn door" ailerons) for better control at low speeds. The Speedy Bee is our most aerobatic Bee: side slips, inverted flight, knife-edges, and spins are possible. The Speedy Bee builds very quickly - nearly every part (sheet balsa & plywood) is pre-cut for you and no laminating is required. You get all of the balsa, plywood, and basswood parts & sticks along with complete plans (3 pgs, rolled), bamboo dowels, axle, windshield, tail spring, and our excellent 20 page instruction book (includes over 30 drawings). The Speedy Bee requires an engine from .09 to .25 (2-cycle) or .20 to .26 (4-cycle). It also uses the same wheels & floats as the Lazy Bee.

SPEEDY BEE FLOAT KIT (Item #222162)
Convert your Bee into a float plane! Works with the Speedy Bee! Once the floats are assembled, you can change from wheels to floats in about 2 minutes! We tested about 20 different float shapes and configurations to find the optimal set-up. These lightweight floats (3 to 4 oz) are made from balsa and can be built either 2" or 2.5" wide, depending on the weight of your plane. Most planes should use 2.5" floats, only the lighter planes (24 oz or less) should use 2" floats. The floats can be covered with Litespan or Easytex to match your plane. The float kit includes: Pre-cut main & tail float sides, sheet balsa, bamboo dowels, all the required balsa & basswood sticks, and a set of plans that shows both the assembly and installation details. If the lake freezes over, use the floats as skis for flying from snow!
